Obama’s Weekly Address – All About The Swine Flu

Surely Mr. Obama, there is more going on in this nation than just the Swine Flu. How about talking about your meetings with foreign Presidents’ this coming week? How about talking about your stance on some very important legislature coming through Congress?

Am I the only one who thinks something is up that the Democrats aren’t telling us? Are they trying to distract us with all this Swine Flu talk?

You look at the facts and you be the judge. Remember, the government works for YOU!

Today In Congress – May 1, 2009

Today, the House of Representatives was not in session today.

Today in the Senate, ten bills and one resolution were introduced.

To look at May 1st’s Congressional Daily Digest (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/B?r111:@FIELD(FLD003+d)+@FIELD(DDATE+20090501) copy and paste into the address bar the previous link.

I would go into depth with the Congressional Report, however, I believe that it is best to look the information yourself and draw your own conclusions.

Patriot Specials

I have created a category on this blog called Patriot Specials. This category will have monthly, weekly, and sometimes random specials.

Every month, I will choose ONE Politician, of any party, who has exemplified true patriotism in their personal life. This special will be known as Beyond The Politician.

Every week, I will choose a speech or quote from a great American patriot. This special will be known as Words of Great Americans.

Also every week, I will choose to highlight ONE great American tradition (e.g. Sports, Food, Entertainment). This special will be known as Great American Traditions.

There will also be special posts that are not included in these three main groups. The goal is to inspire you to be a great American and to show you why America is the greatest nation on Earth.

Obama Wants “Empathetic” Supreme Court Judges

I highly recommend reading this article from FOX News.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/05/01/obama-pushes-empathetic-supreme-court-justices/

I agree with what the article says. He basically is using nice word “empathetic” when in actuallity he means the word “partial”. In the words of Wendy Long, legal counsel to the Judicial Confirmation Network, “(Obama) thinks judges should have empathy for certain litigants who come before them. Of course if you have empathy for everybody who comes before you, there are two sides to every case. If you have empathy for both sides then that’s the same as having no empathy at all. So what he means is he wants empathy for one side and what’s wrong with that is it is being partial instead of being impartial. A judge is supposed to have empathy for no one but simply to follow the law.

Keeping Tabs on Obama

This bit of information comes from the Press Office of the White House. This comes directly from the Press Secretary’s mouth (though you have to take his word with a grain of salt, because remember who his “boss” is).

On Tuesday, the President will meet President Shimon Peres of Israel at the White House.

On Thursday, the President will sign a proclamation recognizing the National Day of Prayer, and attend meetings here at the White House.  On Friday, the President will also attend meetings here at the White House.

On Wednesday, the President will meet with President Karzai of Afghanistan and President Zardari of Pakistan.  I want to read a statement about that:  In order to raise the level of the dialogue, accelerate the process of cooperation between the two countries, and implement the new strategy formulated by the United States, President Obama will host at the White House President Karzai of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and President Zardari of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

In addition to the trilateral summit, both Presidents will have separate meetings with President Obama to discuss issues and U.S.-Afghanistan and U.S.-Pakistan relationships.

This follows up on the commitment President Obama announced on March 27th to establish a standing trilateral dialogue between our three governments.  The President looks forward to discussing with these two democratically elected leaders how we can work together to enhance our cooperation in this important part of the world, as the United States implements a new strategy toward Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Delegations from both nations will be in Washington on May 6th and 7th for a range of official meetings.

I am not going to make any comments on this yet. We will see what happens with the meetings between Obama and Israel’s, Afghanistan’s, and Pakistan’s Presidents. Then I will make my comments.

Obama’s Statement on World Press Freedom Day

This is the statement from Obama about World Press Freedom Day released by The Press Office today on May 1, 2009.

World Press Freedom Day is annually observed on May 3 to remind us all of the vital importance of this core freedom.  It is a day in which we celebrate the indispensable role played by journalists in exposing abuses of power, while we sound the alarm about the growing number of journalists silenced by death or jail as they attempt to bring daily news to the public.

Although World Press Freedom Day has only been celebrated since 1993, its roots run deep in the international community.   In 1948, as people across the globe emerged from the horrors of the Second World War, nations saw fit to enshrine in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights the fundamental principle that everyone “has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

Even as the world recognizes the central and indisputable importance of press freedom, journalists find themselves in frequent peril.  Since this day was first celebrated some sixteen years ago, 692 journalists have been killed.  Only a third of those deaths were linked to the dangers of covering war; the majority of victims were local reporters covering topics such as crime, corruption, and national security in their home countries.  Adding to this tragic figure are the hundreds more each year who face intimidation, censorship, and arbitrary arrest – guilty of nothing more than a passion for truth and a tenacious belief that a free society depends on an informed citizenry.  In every corner of the globe, there are journalists in jail or being actively harassed: from Azerbaijan to Zimbabwe, Burma to Uzbekistan, Cuba to Eritrea.  Emblematic examples of this distressing reality are figures like J.S. Tissainayagam in Sri Lanka, or Shi Tao and Hu Jia in China.  We are also especially concerned about the citizens from our own country currently under detention abroad:  individuals such as Roxana Saberi in Iran, and Euna Lee and Laura Ling in North Korea.

Today, I lend my voice of support and admiration to all those brave men and women of the press who labor to expose truth and enhance accountability around the world.  In so doing, I recall the words of Thomas Jefferson: “The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.”

Obama seems to talk the “good talk” but his actions speak LOUDER than his words. The Liberal Left have been giving nothing but trouble to conservative press. They are currently trying to pass Fairness Doctrine (http://www.heritage.org/research/regulation/em368.cfm), which will prohibit both conservative and liberal media from being “biased”. In other words, taking away freedom of the Press. This action is in DIRECT CONTRADICTION of his words. Not only that, but it is DIRECT VIOLATION of his Oath of Office which is clearly WRITTEN IN THE CONSTITUTION, by infringing on rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. The Oath says:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Therefore, we have proven once again that Barack Obama is a liar and a hypocrite. Don’t take my word for it. LOOK UP THE FACTS. TIME AND TIME AGAIN THE FACTS WILL PROVE IT FOR YOU.
